WHARFEDALE TRACK
The North Canterbury Cycling Club has been working with Scott Walker of T5 Contracting and Jim Henderson from DoC to repair the Wharfedale Track. In November 2014, May and November 2015 they have undertaken significant improvements to the track. This has required strategic placement of the T5 digger by chopper, a high level of track building skills to maintain the challenge for more experienced riders, along with repairing and re-routing parts of the track that have been damaged due to storms, slips and tree fall to a safer and more sustainable standard.
Funding has been provided by: Trail Fund NZ, Rata Foundation and the North Canterbury Cycling Club.
Feedback gained so far on the work has been overwhelmingly positive and this is evident with the increased numbers of people mountain biking the Wharfedale Track.
